On September 22, CWA Local 1080‘s Next Generation committee welcomed a class of new hires with an evening meet and greet. Activists shared food, music and information about our Union and the work the Local is engaged in. There were more than 40 people in attendance, including Next Gen members and new workers.
The conversation included collective bargaining, how to get involved with the Local, tackling student debt and how to be a resource to one another. Local 1080‘s Next Gen committee was established last year and has been working hard on building their network throughout the ranks.
Great to see CWA locals building vibrant Next Gen programs. We look forward to seeing what this amazing group of young leaders will accomplish! Shoutout to Local 1080’s Next Gen Advisor Djwana Dixon and co-chairs Jeff Layden and Amanda Sapienza.
